TRANSPORT, LAND-USE AND THE ENVIRONMENT. CHAPTER 12: ANALYSIS OF URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES ASSISTED BY BEHAVIOURAL MODELLING

This paper describes a method for examining the impact, in terms of final pollution levels, that differnt environmental policies may produce. The method is based on an integrated land use/transport/economic model. The integrated approach and microeconomic framework are discussed. The model is described and the interaction between the activity and transport sub-models is considered in more detail. An analysis is then carried out of different policies that have been proposed to improve air pollution conditions in Santiago. These include road pricing, public transport subsidies and land use taxes. For the covering abstract see IRRD 883195.
