RATIONAL DETERMINATION OF PAVEMENTS DEFLECTION FROM LACROIX DEFLECTOGRAPH MEASUREMENTS

A rational method for the determination of the elastic deflection of pavements, from LACROIX deflectograph measurements is presented. It takes into account the measurement beam geometry and the loading system characteristics. From the measured deflection curve with vertical displacements of the reference plane and multiple loads, the authors compute the parameters of the true deflection curve, whose analytical shape is given, under a fixed reference plane and an unique load. The computation is based on a non linear least square minimisation of the difference between the measured deflection curve and a functional of the searched original curve. Application of the method to measurements on flexible pavement structures is presented. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 883133.
