PRESSUREMETER TESTING FOR ROAD DESIGN

Within the various procedures for acceptance of road structures, their further testing and their monitoring, especially for their base courses the assessment of the soil E-modulus is not easy, either for the subgrade or for the treated or non treated intermediate layers. In this paper the authors propose to determine an E-modulus for each layer in-situ with a pressuremeter test using a Menard minipressuremeter and a cyclic loop procedure. Results are compared with E-modulus obtained from other testing procedures such as the deflection test with the Benkelman beam, the Curviameter or plate loading test. These tests were performed on 2 carriageways where base course treatment was carried out and air-strip subgrade, (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 883133.
