INTRODUCING THE NONLINEARITY OF THE GRANULAR MATERIAL IN ROUTINE ANALYTICAL PAVEMENT DESIGN
This paper makes a comparison of results of calculation of pavement design criteria between a classical multi-layer linear elastic analysis (program ALIZE) and a finite element analysis incorporating a non-linear elastic model (program FENLAP). A recommended calculation process giving close results for the two models is presented. In addition the possibility of introducing the non-linear behaviour of granular layers in a routine pavement design method has been examined. In particular the paper treats with the case of the French official prescriptions for lightly trafficked and heavily trafficked roads. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 883133.
