PRESTRESSING CABLES INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT BY MEANS OF THE REFLECTOMETRIC METHOD (RIMT)

The Reflectometric Impulse Measurement Technology (RIMT) is a non-destructive measurement technique that enables a global in-situ integrity control of prestressing cables. It permits the determination of location and extent and the qualitative evaluation of anomalies along prestressing strands, due to corrosion and grouting defects. The paper describes the physical basis of the method, and experiments performed on laboratory prestressed beams and on motorway bridges. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 882313.
