ASSESSMENT OF THE PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION PROVIDED BY REPAIR SYSTEMS

A number of systems for the repair of concrete with corroded reinforcement are compared. Aspects investigated are a) the protection against corrosion provided by the repair system, b) the lowest permissible cover of repair mortar to prevent corrosion and c) a reproducible and significant testing procedure. Test specimens had 2, 5 or 10mm reinforcement cover using a variety of mortar and protection layers for the reinforcement. Specimens were subjected to an ageing procedure. The results are presented. Recommendations are made for the repair of damaged concrete. For the covering abstract see IRRD 882313.
