ROAD BRIDGES STRENGTHENED BY EPOXY BONDED STEEL PLATES

This paper describes the strengthening of three road bridges, in northern Finland, by epoxy bonded steel plates. The bridges are situated on the main road E 75 which is the most significant connection between southern and northern Finland. The bridges have had a traffic limitation for heavy and very heavy loads. It has been calculated that the strengthening of the bridges produce a saving of about one million pounds in driving costs over a twenty year period. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 882313.
