INTERACTION BETWEEN SOIL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF STRUCTURED SOILS AND HYDRAULIC PROCESS - THEORETICAL FUNDAMENTALS OF A MODEL

Mechanical and hydraulic processes in soils are usually treated separately in numerical models, although there are relevant interactions between them. This paper discusses different types of interaction and describes the authors' approach to build in these interactions into a coupled elasto-plastic-hydraulic soil model. The technique of using parameter functions depending on the hydraulic and stress-strain state of the soil to describe the soil properties is shown using a schematic representation of the model. In addition some aspects specially used for modeling the behaviour of structured soils will be discussed. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 881647.
