SOIL SUCTION MEASUREMENT WITH TRANSISTOR PSYCHROMETER

This paper covers six aspects of the laboratory transistor psychrometer: (i) the calibration method; (ii) the repeatability of the calibration; (iii) the change in calibration with time; (iv) the preparation of soil specimens for soil suction tests; (v) the effect of temperature on psychrometer performance, and (vI) the computer hardware and software for recording and presenting the data. The hysteresis effect is also considered, with different methods of overcoming this effect being discussed in detail. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 881647.
