TECHNIQUES TO EVALUATE SOIL SUCTION - A VITAL UNSATURATED SOIL WATER VARIABLE

Testing results suggest that soil suction can be evaluated from appropriate physical properties that are sensitive to a soil water variation. Various soil suction instruments were investigated, calibrated, and tested in the laboratory. In this paper, the calibration techniques and the working principles of these instruments are presented along with their performance. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 881647.
