SHEAR STRENGTH, VOLUME CHANGE AND PERMEABILITY CHARACTERISTICS OF A COMPACTED RESIDUAL SOIL

Shear strength, volume change and permeability characteristics of a compacted residual soil are presented in this paper. Soil - water characteristic curves of the compacted residual soil for drying and wetting are established and used to compute the unsaturated permeability functions. The unsaturated permeability functions are also presented in the form of Gardner's equation and the typical values for constants "a" and "n" are presented.
