Concrete paving in residential areas often necessitate the use of fast track equipment to minimize traffic interruptions. The 25,000 residents of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, found recently that fast track concrete paving met their expectations on a road replacement project in a residential area. This article describes the Glen Ellyn Main Street project, which involved removing existing pavement and curbs on the two-lane road; constructing new sanitary and storm sewers, water mains, combination curbs, and gutters; and laying a new portland cement concrete pavement on the existing subbase. The new pavement is rated for a 20-year life span.
