THE RELEVANCE OF REFURBISHMENT TO TRENDS IN THE TRANSPORT MARKET

All existing rail vehicles, including today's newly built vehicles, will some day require overhauling and are thus potential candidates for refurbishment. This article discusses: the significance of the rail vehicle's life cycle; the transport passenger's needs and environment; and the organization and planning for refurbishment. It also gives two examples of refurbished vehicles and a look to the future.
