TRACK-TO-TRAIN DATA COMMUNICATION

The latest technologies are ensuring that greater levels of communication between track and train are now obtainable. Passenger information, the trains on-board systems, crew schedules, train positioning and location are amongst the systems that are benefiting operators, crew, and passengers alike. Additionally, with the advent of moving block signalling systems comes the need for robust, high-speed data transmission between track and train. Areas highlighted in this article are: signalling system data, safe door opening, passenger information systems, and maintenance.
