ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF TRANSIT IN INDIANA
The purpose of this guidebook is to provide transit planners and policy analysts with procedures to determine the economic, environmental and social impacts that transit systems have in a specific study area. This guidebook utilizes an on-board survey of transit riders, a multiplier analysis generated by the IMPLAN input/output model, and other planning methods. The Indiana Transportation Association (ITA), a trade association which represents the interests of the public and private industry in Indiana, is charged with representing transit member interests in legislative and regulatory matters at State and national levels. This guidebook is designed to assist the ITA in this mission. This guidebook will allow the ITA members to demonstrate the impact of additional State support or loss of State support of transit to the Indiana General Assembly.
