THE GROUNDING OF THE SEA EMPRESS
The 147,273dwt tanker SEA EMPRESS grounded as it approached the port of Milford Haven in February. Two weeks after the vessel was salvaged, the UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch published a special bulletin on its inquiry into the incident. This article outlines the general circumstances of the casualty and the interim findings of the MAIB report.
