BASIC STUDIES ON DESIGN SUPPORTING SYSTEM OF OFFSHORE STRUCTURES
In this paper, a product model for offshore structures is discussed. Compared with ship structures, the distinctive feature in the design stage of offshore structures lies in the initial design stage. The paper introduces some new models for the initial design stage, these are the "Function Element Model" which expresses functional concept by designers and product information such as "Room" and "Part" introduced in SODAS (System of Design and Assembling for Shipbuilding). They are used effectively for a product model for offshore structures. By using this production information many kinds of information are described in the system. As a result, a product model for offshore structures is implemented in SODAS. Some examples using this system are shown at the end of the paper.
