DEVELOPMENT OF CAD SYSTEM FOR SHIP'S GENERAL ARRANGEMENT

A computer-aided design (CAD) system for a ship's general arrangement was developed. This paper briefly describes the development philosophy of this CAD system. Emphasis is on the application techniques which had to be solved during the development, including the management of the equipment graphic library, automatic creating of icons, equipment graphic call, and equipment arrangement and adjustment. A detailed design process of this CAD system for general arrangement applied to an actual project is described.
