MENNA: SEVENTH UNIT IN A SERIES OF FAST HANDLING FLEXIBOX CARRIERS

MENNA is the seventh unit in a series of fast handling flexibox carriers. These ships have been designed to improve the economic return on seaborne transport of forest products. The vessels feature a box-shaped hold which is closed by hydraulically operated steel hatch covers of the folding type covering the hatch opening which has the same dimensions as the ship's tank top. MENNA was built by Niestern Sander B.V., The Netherlands for Wijnne & Barends' Cargadoors-en Agentuurkantoren B.V., The Netherlands. The vessel's principal particulars are: propulsion Caterpillar 3606 DI-TA length, overall 87.96m length, between perpendiculars 84.93m breadth, moulded 12.50m depth 7.70m draught 5.30m tonnage, gross register 2,561 tonnage, net 1,289 tonnage, deadweight 3,284t speed, service 12.5 knots hold capacity 5,548m3 container capacity 129 TEU
