LONG-TERM METOCEAN MEASUREMENTS IN THE NORTHERN NORTH SEA

Shell UK Exploration and Production has been collecting metocean data from its northern North Sea platforms since the mid 1970s to meet operational and engineering requirements. A brief history of relevant measurement details is presented. This is followed by an assessment of the variability of metocean conditions (including underlying trends) observed over the last 20 years. The focus is on wave data, but coastal wind data are also presented for comparison.
