SAFETY ASSESSMENT AND SAFETY CASE PREPARATION IN A FAST-TRACK PROJECT

This paper discusses the specific challenges which the safety/risk assessment discipline in an offshore industry fast-track project are faced with. The paper focuses on a number of issues and problems which are specific for fast-track projects and which require novel approaches or solutions. The issues are discussed under the following headings: focus on project value; use of experience in early project phases; role of the FSP program; integration of the FAS process into design; functional requirements vs standard design solutions; and preparation of safety cases.
