CONCRETE FPSO FOR WEST OF SHETLAND AND THE NORTH SEA

The world's largest concrete monohull floating production vessel has recently been completed and floated out for Elf Congo's NKOSSA Field. Designs have been prepared for concrete Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels for the West of Shetland and North Sea areas. The paper discusses why a concrete hull was selected, summarises the main features of the NKOSSA concrete barge and presents the FPSO's developed for West of Shetland and the North Sea. Advantages provided by the use of concrete for this application are highlighted.
