SOUTH KOREA ORDERS SEISMIC RESEARCH VESSEL

Ulstein Verft, Norway are building a specialist seismic research vessel for the Korea Institute of Geology, Mining and Materials. The vessel's principal mission is to execute seismic and bottom sampling surveys in waters adjacent to Korea and in the open sea. The 2,000gt UT723 design will be an efficient working ship with a very high degree of noise and vibration suppression. The hull lines are appropriately adapted for the vessel with the addition of a bulbous bow which will effectively increase the waterline length, reducing resistance to gain additional speed, and it also assisted in ensuring an optimum seakeeping performance.
