SPIRAL HEAT EXCHANGER FOR HEATING HEAVY OIL IN MARINE MAIN ENGINES

Improvements for a heavy oil spiral heater for a marine main engine were required in order to increase efficiency, reduce size and to overcome the problems of installing the traditional shell-and-tube heat exchanger in the engine room separating station. A prototype of the new design has been manufactured and tested. This paper describes and analyses the test results and data calculations obtained on the basis of the measured values.
