DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM OF DIESEL ENGINE BY STATISTICAL VIBRATION ANALYSIS

The paper describes a system with which the abnormal condition of a diesel engine is diagnosed by its vibration. In the crankcase of an engine, vibration occurs when the connecting rod large end comes into contact with the thin metal board that is attached to take it inside the crankcase. The vibration was detected by means of a vibration sensor on the surface of the engine frame. A statistical analysis was made against the spectral data of the vibration signal, and a detection of an abnormal condition was found. It was shown to be able to detect an abnormal condition occurring inside the crankcase, using the vibration means of diagnosis.
