In order to develop huge floating platforms in the sea, it is necessary to evaluate the elastic response of the structure in arbitrary wave direction. In this paper, the structural response characteristics of a large floating structure (over all length is 1020m), which consists of multi-unit semi-submersibles were investigated. In the structural response analysis, the structure was modeled in 3 dimensional by means of the finite element method and the responses were calculated in arbitrary wave direction. The following results were obtained: 1) the floating structure system, which is moored by catenary anchor leg mooring, endured well in severe wave conditions; 2) the largest motion and stress on the deck occurred in beam sea conditions; and 3) a natural frequency of 2- node bending mode of the structure has a great influence on the amplitude of the motion and the stress.
