TIME DOMAIN NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF WAVE-INDUCED RESPONSES OF ELASTIC SHIPS

This paper shows a validation of the nonlinear hydroelastic integral-differential method and its application to the investigation of ship motions and dynamic structural responses induced by wave and slamming. The numerical simulation is performed based on the time history of incident waves measured in the experiment, so that the calculational result can be verified directly in the time domain. The time domain modelling also reveals the mechanism of the whipping responses induced by transient excitations such as slamming and green water. The numerical prediction shows good agreement with the experimental result of an elastic ship model test.
