ON SEAKEEPING EVALUATION OF MARINE HIGH PERFORMANCE VEHICLES

The motion induced by waves, probability of slamming and green water on decks, and the voluntary and involuntary speed loss of high performance marine vehicles are described and discussed. The seakeeping performance is also evaluated. The manoeuvrable limit in specified sea areas and the seaworthiness associated with the long term statistics of waves for four high performance marine vehicles are compared on the basis of various suggested seakeeping criteria.
