THE ROLL TEST ALLOWING OF DECK INTO WATER

This paper presents an experimental investigation of forced model roll tests allowing the deck into water, using a contrary vibration type roll-exciter with controllable moment. It is demonstrated that using the roll model of a dry deck to predict the rolling response of the deck into water may produce significant error. Through the forced rolling experiments of ship model deck into water, a realistic roll model can be obtained, and a reliable roll response with a large amplitude can be predicted.
