NUMERICAL SHIP HYDRODYNAMICS AT OTANIEMI - STATE OF ART REVIEW AND CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS

Numerical methods in ship hydrodynamics developed and used at Otaniemi in Finland are briefly presented. Current developments are also reviewed. Different approaches in solving the steady state hull flow problems are presented in some detail. The design and analysis methods of marine screw propellers and other types of propulsor are briefly reviewed. Numerical means of tackling the problem of ship-wave interaction are briefly presented and their applications are selectively cited. Numerical methods used in other fields of ship hydrodynamics are illustrated by an example of a moon-poll behaviour.
