LOSSES IN AIR CONTENT DURING TRANSPORTATION
The results obtained from air content measurements made in conjunction with the casting of 13 large-scale bridges and from material gathered at approved ready-mixed concrete plants have shown that the air content is some 0.7 percent lower on the site than in the plant. Concrete which is to conform to the minimum Swedish air content requirement of min. 4.5 percent on site should, consequently, be proportioned for an average of 6 percent in the plant so as to allow for scatter in the production and loss during transport. This study also presents other observations made in conjunction with investigations concerning the measurement of air content.
