ASSESSMENT OF SHIP MACHINERY RELIABILITY PERFORMANCE WITH NUMERICAL SIMULATION

The paper deals with an application of the Monte Carlo simulation technique to ship machinery reliability analyses. First the conventional modelling approaches of analytical reliability engineering methods are introduced in a general way. The main principles of Monte Carlo simulation are discussed and, as an application example, a numerical model for assessing ship machinery reliability performance is presented. Finally, results of two cases analyzed with the model are shown.
