ADVANCED DESIGN AND PRODUCTION FOR NEW ULSTEIN REDUCTION GEARS
Extensive use of both CAD/CAM and finite-element analysis has been made in developing new marine reduction gearboxes. These units incorporate the servo system for a cp propeller and a power take-off. The reduction ratio is large, the input speed can be 720rev/min and the propeller shaft speed 104rev/min, which is achieved in two stages using a 'folded' gear train to give a short offset between input and output shafts and a rigid and compact casing. The vertical offset is 900m.
