NUMERICAL TOOLS IN SHIP MACHINERY PLANT DESIGN

The paper describes the state of the art of machinery plant related calculations. Results have generally high reliability. Models have been created for all current needs and simple mathematics is normally sufficient. PC units can perform most calculations. High performance computers are needed only for FE models as well as CAD and other production management related tasks. Current research is focusing on more accurate and reliable input parameters. Simulation models are actively developed for various purposes.
