ALTERNATIVE FUEL TRANSIT BUSES. FINAL RESULTS FROM THE RENEWABLE ENERGY LABORATORY VEHICLE EVALUATION PROGRAM
The objective of the program was to comprehensively and objectively evaluate the reliability, operating costs, and emission levels of all alternative fuels currently in use in the transit bus industry. The data collected in the program included: records of all fuel and oil additions to the buses; all maintenance records for the buses; records of all road calls that resulted in a breakdown while the bus was in service; emissions data; and, capital cost information. An analysis of the data collected is presented.
