ANALYTICAL SOLUTION FOR GALLOPING OSCILLATIONS

The authors develop a closed analytical solution based on measured steady-state aerodynamic force coefficients, noting specifically the relationship between amplitude of galloping oscillation and cross flow velocity. The findings agree qualitatively with wind tunnel tests on prismatic elements and observations on actual structures. The analysis is two-dimensional.
