JOB TASK ANALYSIS: RELEVANCE FOR PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT

The program of research focusing on the job responsibilities of AMTs is being carried out at Northwestern University under the auspices of the FAA. As the first step in this program, a Job Task Analysis of the tasks responsibilities of AMTs is about to be completed. Based on these data, the authors can make comparisons with the results obtained in the Allen study, completed in the early 1970s. Using these comparisons, the authors can infer the extent to which maintenance has changed and can also make comparisons from one segment of the industry to another.
