NOT JUST ANOTHER FLOAT-IN
To make the George P. Coleman Bridge in Yorktown, Virginia wider and safer for today's traffic, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Tidewater Construction Corp. (AGC) floated out the existing bridge and floated in a new one. The idea of floating in a bridge is not new, but this was the first time a bridge anywhere close to this size had been floated into place, ready to carry traffic.
