FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF CENTRIFUGE TESTS OF REINFORCED EMBANKMENTS ON SOFT CLAY
This paper describes an investigation into the behaviour of reinforced embankments on soft clay using the finite element method, comparing the results with those obtained from a series of centrifuge model tests. The CRISP93 finite element program was used, in which the stress-induced anisotropic behaviour of the one-dimensionally consolidated clay foundation was modelled. The results of the centrifuge model tests and their predictions using CRISP93 were in good agreement with each other.
