TERMINAL MANAGEMENT FOR LESS THAN TRUCKLOAD CARRIERS

This paper presents a thorough analysis of freight terminal operations. This analysis will permit the identification of factors influencing terminal productivity and should help its management. In the first section, before elaborating on physical and productivity considerations, the researchers propose to characterize the general context in which terminal activities take place. In the second section, they prsent the model of terminal activities in order to come up with a terminal time formula for every shipment. In section 3, they present the validation of their model at five terminals and they discuss the validity of thier approach as well as the interpretation of its implementation. Finally, a conclusion points to the main findings and further developments. For the covering abstract of this conference, see IRRD number 872510. (A)
