ITE-"INTERNET?" TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERS

The format of this paper begins first with a description of the services that are generally used on the Internet. Uses by transportation engineers are listed and the status of the Institute of Transportation Engineers' (ITE) efforts is briefly discussed. It describes methods of accessing the Internet directly and through service groups such as CompuServe and America Online, including hardware and software suggestions. At the end of the paper is a brief explanation and history of the Internet and the Domain Name System. The authors of the paper are users of DOS-based machines, generally using a Windows environment.
