ANALYSIS-REALITY AND HOW THE TWO COMPARE

Non-destructive techniques are useful in obtaining confirmation of analytical predictions. Present-day analysis using high speed computers leaves little in reserve. Never before has there been so much pressure placed on the engineer to confirm analytical behavior. The dynamic response of a structure can reveal important information both in confirmation and as a diagnostic tool when results are compared over time. This technique is a very powerful non-destructive testing method and the results of three applications on complex bridge structures will be discussed.
