BATCH DRILLING PROGRAM CUTS TIME, COSTS FOR LIUHUA DEVELOPMENT

The efficiency of batch drilling operations and the appropriate use of technology, teamwork, and thorough planning helped cut several days off the time to drill each of 10 subsea wells for the Liuhua 11-1 development project in the South China Sea. The rig-of-opportunity phase of development was comprised of batch drilling operations for 30-inch, 13-3/8 inch, 9-5/8 inch and 7- inch casing intervals. The Liuhua 11-1 project is under development by operator Amoco Orient Petroleum Co. (AOPC) and partners China Offshore Oil Nanhai East Corp. and Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd.
