REALISATION ASPECTS OF THE 5.8GHZ VEHICLE-TO-ROADSIDE MICROWAVE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
The realisation of demand management systems requires a secure two-way communication between the road-side unit and the on-board unit (OBU). This paper describes a new way of implementing the microwave part of the on-board unit, which eliminates the need for expensive microwave substrate material. It allows the realisation of the microwave antenna and modulating-demodulating circuit on ordinary printed circuit board. This cost reduction is important for large volume manufacturing of the OBUs. The new OBU presented in this paper was developed as an extension to the ADEPT project. For the covering abstract see IRRD 880251.
