COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVING: IMPROVING THE MEDICAL CERTIFICATION PROCESS
This is a scientific poster presentation on the fact that six US state driver licensing agencies demonstrate the potential capability of assuming the responsibility of commercial driver fitness certification, although in some states enabling legislation will be required to put this in place. The integration of fitness certification and driver licensing at the state level will facilitate an effective program to ensure that commercial drivers meet appropriate medical standards relative to their driving responsibility and that drivers with certain medical conditions are identified and evaluated.
