ITS PROGRAM OF THE I-95 NORTHEAST CORRIDOR COALITION
The main goal of the I-95 Corridor Coalition - a partnership of twelve northeastern states from Virginia to Maine, and District of Columbia and New York City - is to work towards a seamless intermodal transportation network to facilitate efficient movement of people and goods. The Coalition's technical program reflects the desires of public transportation agencies to work with private sector members to accomplish regional/corridor-wide applications of ITS technologies and strategies. By reviewing user needs and marketability, the coalition has taken the first step in investigating the requirements for a corridor-wide Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS). This paper states the key findings of surveys and outlines the objectives of this year's operational test for ATIS in the technology equipped northeast. It describes the tasks to be performed in ATIS operational test.
