CVO INNOVATIONS: PREFERENCES AND CONCERNS OF OHIO MOTOR CARRIERS

Institutional issues, or barriers, related to successful deployment of ITS take on a special significance in the case of Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO), largely because nearly all CVO services rely heavily on coordination between private motor carriers and government agencies. The authors conducted a federally-funded survey of trucking firms and relevant state agencies in Ohio. The objective: uncover issues that inhibit deployment of sound ITS technology. Carriers were asked to rate and provide open-ended reactions to seven innovations. The results, in some instances, were labeled as "surprising".
