This paper describes a transport model of Alsace developed during the course of a major study on the future evolution and impacts of transport in that region. The basis of the model is a disaggregate travel demand forecasting system based upon the methods that HCG have pioneered in the Netherlands. The paper describes the objectives of this approach to transport model design, and how it has been applied to the Alsace Region, using a variety of available data. It also reports the use of a simple land-use model used to help in the creation of alternative scenarios for the pattern of future development across the region.
