APPLYING THE OPTIMUM ROAD AND TRAFFIC SAFETY COUNTERMEASURES TO SPECIFIC CONDITIONS WITHIN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

This paper reports on an effort to find comparative data on which road and traffic safety measures have reached full acceptance in individual countries for certain road and traffic conditions and which have, in fact, not been employed frequently within a given country. The aim was to compare the application of a range of road and traffic safety countermeasures across different countries according to different road and traffic conditions. This research aimed to analyze the different national frequencies of safety measure application according to specific conditions (for example, type of road, cross road type, traffic volume and traffic composition).
