TRANSPORT FOR LESS MOBILE PEOPLE IN THE RHONE-ALPES REGION: TOWARDS A NECESSARY COORDINATION
This paper describes a study carried out in the Rhone-Alpes region of France into the provision being made for the transport of the disabled by a variety of organisations with the aim of improving coordination. The study comprised 3 phases: a) an analysis of the various adaptations which have been made to transport, b) a survey amongst the less mobile to find out their requirements with regard to transport and information on transport and c) concrete proposals for improving the transport conditions of less mobile people in the region. The study considers air, rail, coach, bus and tram services as well as specific services. Some preliminary conclusions are drawn which indicate a wide variety of measures with little coordination. It is suggested that in particular better information is needed. For the covering abstract see IRRD 878000.
